We just love these beautiful smocked dresses that one of customers makes with some of our fabrics.

Welcome to our first missive of 2012. A fair old plethora of stuff for your perusal. You will see cottons, woolens, embroideries, crafty cloths, thick, thin, narrow and wide. Not quite a gamut but plenty of choice. Happy sewing!

We have a beautiful wool/cashmere fabric and scrumptious grey woollen suiting fabric in.

These lovely quality faux suede dressmaking fabrics really are lovely to handle and will make stunning garments. I saw a range made from fabric similar to this in All Saints. They could even make lovely cushion covers.

This little selection is the best I’ve come across in my time at Croft Mill. All cotton, all 60” wide and in a fair wide variety of different types of cord. Are you sitting comfortably? Here we go.

I think these fabrics are a bit of a find. They are 100% spun rayon (viscose), they are only 91 cm (or a yard) wide which means pretty much they have been woven on narrower looms, since they don’t make them any more, there is a chance that these cloths are reasonably old, hence the vintage bit.

60” wide fake fur fabric as I’ve only seen a couple of times in my little lot in cloth, well I’ve actually seen it but I have not been able to afford to get it...

Christmas shipping and dispatch details

We've been asked for this so many times we thought we'd better let you know that we have some in. Do you know those lush white bathrobes you get in hotels? Well this is it in fabric form.

We have these lovely brushed cottons. They could make you some snugly pyjamas.

We often get asked to see our fabrics by colour. We have tried to make things a little easier so we have put a selection of our red and green fabrics on one page for you to see. Of course it has a Christmas theme.

What a fabulous cloth - 64” wide heavy wool/polyester rug/coating/blanket cloth in a navy/green Black Watch tartan pattern. We’ve only 20 metres and it’s heavy.

Earlier in the year I was asked by a customer if we had anything substantial for Christmas throws. A fabric that didn’t have to express itself totally in the Christmas atmosphere but needed too remind someone it was Christmas.

He's in a world of his own, made in Holland these really are la Crème de la Crème. Delicious!

The Hat - Croft Mill's Latest Fabric Catalogue is ready for those of you who prefer the traditional way of shopping for our fabrics. What’s more; it's exciting as we have now moved to a two colour spread but jokes aside, we do like it and hope that you do too. Maybe soon we will get some images on there but then where would be the fun for those of you who take a punt and wait with anticipation as to what fabrics will turn up on your doorstep. It’s nice that our customers know us well enough never to disappoint.

Here we are again, we have been out and about buying fabric which we hope you are going to like. It has taken us as far as Europe and the dizzying heights of Ireland. The fabrics we have for you really are of the finest quality.We have some superb tracksuiting and velour fabrics, along with a few pieces of some gorgeous Irish Linens, fab denim and the cotton poplins are just stunning. I really can’t Big It up anymore so please just take a look and see what you think. We always want to spoil you and we hope we have done it again!!

The heat has meant that we can get out those dresses from the back of the wardrobe and the fashion pages are full of news on dresses and tips on how to wear them.

The festival season is upon us and wow what a summer we are having so far. Can it last? I hope so. Glastonbury looked amazing this year, as a TV onlooker I bounced around my living room just wishing I was there wandering around in my festival regalia and massive straw hat listening to all the sounds it had to offer......

Here at Croft Mill we have been busy sewing, yes we sell fabric but like to make things too, there are too many fabrics and not enough time to create the amount of clothes that we visualise. One of our customers sent me an image recently that said, 'The one with the most Fabric dies', yes it does sound a bit dramatic but even though there are rooms full of fabric here, between us we also have boxes and cupboards full at our homes.

A third round of strikes due to start today has been called off and it seams that the post will now be unaffected by strikes at least until after Christmas

60in wide cotton velvet in a pale mushroom colour. Not absolutely plain cut like traditional velvet, there is a slight unevenness created in the raising. Very substantial, could be used for curtaining REDUCED from £4.50mtr to £3.75mtr .

Gird your loins in these rather splendid cotton trouserings all from Germany and an overspill from a trouser maker of immense repute; in fact as my dad describes it ‘I am the proud possessor of one of their pairs of trousers and a pair of shorts. The trousers are fairly new and purple, much to my wife’s delight and the shorts are red and old and won’t wear out. None of these is purple nor red but much more sensible’.
