Why Choose Viscose Jersey?

Viscose jersey is a soft, stretchy knit fabric with beautiful drape and excellent comfort. Unlike woven viscose fabrics, viscose jersey stretches naturally, making it ideal for close-fitting garments that need movement and flexibility.

Light to mid-weight viscose jersey works particularly well for t-shirts, dresses, wrap styles, skirts and everyday wear. It skims the body without feeling restrictive and remains breathable, making it suitable for year-round dressmaking.

Sewing with Viscose Jersey

Using the correct tools makes a noticeable difference when sewing viscose jersey. Choose a ballpoint or stretch needle to avoid snagging the knit structure. Sew with a stretch stitch or narrow zigzag stitch so seams move with the fabric rather than popping under strain.

Finish seams with an overlocker or a wide zigzag stitch to improve durability. Because viscose jersey has natural drape and stretch, it can shift slightly while cutting. Cutting in a single layer and stabilising shoulder seams with tape will help you achieve a cleaner finish.
