Viscose Jersey
These light to mid-weight dressmaking fabrics have a soft finish and lovely drape, making them the perfect choice for sewing tops and dresses.
Viscose jersey fabrics are especially well-suited for close-fitting and “clingy” garments. But don’t let their clinging ability fool you – these fabrics are also breathable and comfortable, making them ideal for year-round wear. So whether you’re looking for a summer dress or a cosy winter top, our viscose jersey fabrics will help you create the perfect garment.
There are many reasons why viscose jersey makes the perfect fabric for dresses. Firstly, viscose jersey has a beautiful drape. This means that it will hug your curves in all the right ways, without being too constricting or uncomfortable. Second, viscose jersey is breathable and moisture-wicking, making it the perfect fabric for warm weather dresses. And third, viscose jersey is easy to care for – simply machine wash on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low heat.

One of the most important things to remember when sewing with viscose jersey is to use sharp needles. Knit fabrics can be tough on needles, so make sure to use sharp needles that are specifically designed for knit fabrics. You'll also want to use a stretch stitch or a zigzag stitch when sewing with viscose jersey. This will help your seams stretch along with the fabric, preventing them from popping or breaking under stress. Finally, make sure to finish your seams by surging or using a wide zigzag stitch – this will help prevent them from unravelling over time.
