Shop Fabric by Colour

Most makes start with a colour in mind. Browsing by shade is often the quickest way to find the right fabric, pulling every option in one colour into a single view so you can compare a crisp cotton, a fluid viscose and a structured denim side by side. Pick a colour below to open its full collection, or scroll on to browse the whole range. Not sure of the exact shade? Order a sample first.

Colour is where most projects begin. You picture the finished piece in a particular shade long before you've settled on the fabric, the weight or the pattern, which is why shopping by colour is often the fastest route to the right cloth. Browsing this way gathers every fabric in a given shade into one place, so you're comparing within a colour rather than hopping between fabric-type pages to see what's available in it.

Each colour above opens its own collection, bringing together cotton, linen, jersey, denim, wool, viscose and lining in that shade, from the palest tints through to the deepest tones. Pick the colour you're working towards, or use the grid below to browse the full range at once. If you're matching to an existing garment, a trim or another fabric in the same make, the colour is usually the first thing to get right.

Matching colour and shade online

A screen will only get you so close. Navy, royal and indigo can read almost the same on a monitor yet look quite distinct in daylight, and whites shift between bright white, off-white and cream depending on the light they're seen in. Before cutting into anything where the exact shade matters, order a sample using the Order Sample option on the product page and check it in natural light against whatever you're pairing it with.

Working across colours

If you're combining shades in one project, or setting a plain against a print, it helps to see them together before you commit. Blues sit happily with white, cream, tan and grey; black and white go with almost anything; and a steady plain can ground a busy print.
