Broderie Anglaise
Broderie Anglaise – French for “English Embroidery” became popular in the 19th century and has definitely aged well, being seen in many modern fashion designs and trends.
Characterised by their elaborate patterns usually composed of carefully embroidered holes (or “eyelets”) depicting florals, leaves, vines and stems, these fabrics are about more than Victorian style.
They are being used in a variety of modern fashions like shorts, shirts and dresses and are a more robust alternative to lace making them a perfect choice for daytime wear.
