What is the difference between flat and round elastic?

Flat elastic is most commonly used in waistbands, cuffs and garment casings. Round elastic is often used in drawstrings, face coverings, toggled cords and lightweight projects where a thinner elastic cord is needed.

Can elastic be sewn directly onto fabric?

Yes. Many elastics can be sewn directly onto fabric or enclosed within a casing. The best method depends on the garment, fabric type and the finish you want to achieve.
