Introducing these versatile and timeless trousers—a classic, relaxed-fit design crafted to be prepared for any occasion. These pants offer ample room for a full range of movement while still providing a flattering silhouette, thanks to back darts that shape the seat.

This pattern serves as an excellent foundation for a variety of styles, from durable denim jeans to rugged water-resistant hiking pants. Customise each pair to suit your needs with options like single welt or patch pockets, curved front pockets, optional cargo pockets, and practical knee and hem reinforcements.

For added comfort and functionality, consider incorporating an optional lining to protect the skin from uncomfortable waterproofed materials or to provide an extra layer of warmth, such as flannel, for winter work pants.

This pattern embodies a hard-wearing design with a classic fit. Build a hand-made wardrobe around these versatile designs, ensuring you're always comfortably and stylishly prepared for your next adventure!

Recommended fabric

Variation 1: Light to mid weight trouser woven fabric such as twill, corduroy, wool blends, denim and gabardine.

Variation 2: Trouser weight wovens similar to Variation 1 or fabrics suitable for the pants' intended use. For hiking or biking pants, consider water-resistant cottons or synthetic blends designed for activewear, such as ripstop fabrics.

Lining: Pocket lining such as broadcloth, quilting cotton or other strong, tightly woven cottons or cotton blends.

Optional lining for both variations: Lightweight fabric suitable for the purpose of the pants. For winter work pants, opt for cosy flannel to provide warmth. For waterproof hiking pants, select a lightweight mesh or moisture-wicking cotton to ensure comfort and sweat management.

  • Medium weight fusible interfacing
  • 1.3 – 2.5 cm (1/2″ – 1″) diameter button
