Silk, Chiffon & Georgette Remnants

Silk, Chiffon & Georgette Remnants

These are one-off remnants of silk, chiffon and georgette: single ready-cut pieces at clearance prices, held back at the end of a roll. The collection mixes genuine silks with polyester chiffon and georgette, so composition varies from piece to piece and is listed on each product page. Lengths are fixed and printed in the title. There's one of each, and once a piece sells it isn't restocked.

Sheer fabric is where a remnant earns its place. Overlays, sheer sleeves, scarf-length pieces, linings and trims rarely need much cloth, so a single set-piece length often covers the whole job at a fraction of what a full cut would cost. These pieces are here because they're the last of a roll or an end-of-line length, not because there's anything wrong with them. It's the scarcity that sets the price.

How buying these remnants works

Each piece is a fixed length, printed in the product title, and you buy it exactly as it is. Nothing here can be cut down, combined with another piece, or reordered once it's sold. There's one of each. The collection is also a mix: some pieces are genuine silk, others are polyester chiffon and georgette. Composition is stated on every product page, so it's worth a look before you buy, particularly if you specifically want silk.

What a short length will cover

The natural uses for these are the small-yardage jobs. A sheer overlay on a bodice or a skirt panel. Sleeves on an otherwise opaque dress. A scarf, which needs very little cloth and shows the fabric off better than almost anything else. Veils, trims, ruffles and ties. A lining or a soft facing where a heavier cloth would spoil the drape. If you're already making something from a main fabric, a remnant is an easy way to add a sheer detail without buying a second full length.

Looking for a full length?

Remnants are one-offs, so if you need enough cloth for a whole garment, or you want to pick a specific shade or print, the main ranges are the place to start. Browse Silk Fabrics for the full silk range, Georgette & Chiffon for sheer dress fabrics cut to your measurement, and Crepe de Chine if that's the finish you're after. Each of those pages explains what the fabric is, how it behaves and how to sew it.

Is everything in this collection silk?

No. It's a mix of genuine silk alongside polyester chiffon and georgette. Each product page states the exact composition, so check it if you specifically want pure silk.

Are these sold by the metre?

No. Each one is a fixed-length ready-cut piece, shown in the product title, and you buy the whole piece as it is rather than ordering a custom cut.

Why are they reduced?

Because they're the last of a roll or an end-of-line piece, held in a limited length. It's the length and the scarcity that set the price, not the quality of the cloth.

What can I make with a short length of sheer fabric?

The jobs that never needed much cloth in the first place: overlays, sheer sleeves, scarves, linings, veils, trims and blouse details. A short piece often covers the whole project.

Can I get the same fabric in a longer length?

Not usually, as each remnant is a one-off. If you need a full length, browse the main Silk Fabrics or Georgette & Chiffon collections, where fabrics are cut to order.
