There's one of each, and once a piece sells it isn't restocked.

Sheer fabric is where a remnant earns its place. Overlays, sheer sleeves, scarf-length pieces, linings and trims rarely need much cloth, so a single set-piece length often covers the whole job at a fraction of what a full cut would cost. These pieces are here because they're the last of a roll or an end-of-line length, not because there's anything wrong with them. It's the scarcity that sets the price.

What a short length will cover

The natural uses for these are the small-yardage jobs. A sheer overlay on a bodice or a skirt panel. Sleeves on an otherwise opaque dress. A scarf, which needs very little cloth and shows the fabric off better than almost anything else. Veils, trims, ruffles and ties. A lining or a soft facing where a heavier cloth would spoil the drape. If you're already making something from a main fabric, a remnant is an easy way to add a sheer detail without buying a second full length.
