I'm 16-18, but pattern size 16 is fine, I tried the 18 but it was too big. When made up, the top fits generously around the hips, so it skims over jeans without bunching up.
MY BIG TIP is to skip the fiddly side slits and back neck closure!
The neck is big enough to slip over my head without an opening. Run the bias strip right round the neck opening, or make a facing.
For an easy hem, I make front and back facings of about 3"-4" depth using the main pattern pieces as a guide. Sew them together at the side seams and stitch on the facing at the hem. Done!
I always copy my size on a Tessuti pattern, using tracing paper from Hobbycraft. Then you can play with the fit by making a toile, and bingo! Now you can run off a top in a morning and it's fun all the way!
