Acrylic is slightly lacking in breathability, so it's ideal for making warm-weather clothing like sweatshirts. Polyester, on the other hand, is more breathable and perfect for making everyday garments like t-shirts and skirts.

Whichever fabric you choose, you're sure to get high-quality fabric that will last wash after wash.

Are you looking for the perfect fabric to sew your latest garment? Whether it’s a dress, skirt, t-shirt, or sweatshirt, polyester and acrylic fabrics provide the perfect combination of drape and breathability. Both polyester and acrylic fabrics have their own assets and uses, so you can choose the right one for your needs.

What is Polyester Fabric?

Polyester fabric is a synthetic material with great durability and elasticity. It is lightweight yet strong enough to handle everyday wear-and-tear. Polyester has excellent wrinkle resistance, making it an ideal choice for clothing that needs to stay wrinkle free throughout the day. It also offers good breathability, making it an ideal choice for making t-shirts or other everyday garments that need to keep you comfortable in warm weather conditions.

What is Acrylic Fabric?

Acrylic fabric is another synthetic material that has similar characteristics as polyester but slightly different qualities. This fabric has great strength and resilience against everyday wear-and-tear but lacks a bit in breathability compared to polyester. That makes it an ideal choice for warm weather clothing like sweatshirts since its lack of breathability will keep you warm even on cold days. Acrylic fabric also has excellent colourfastness which means that your garments will retain their colour wash after wash.
