GBSB Ep4 Inspiration: Mexico Week
Colour, embroidery and bold details inspired our favourite fabrics, trims and patterns from episode 4 Mexico Week of the Sewing Bee.
A gorgeous Italian ex-designer viscose covered in a busy garden of small flowers and foliage. Against the black ground are shades of orange, pink, violet, blue, green, soft cream and earthy brown, giving the print plenty of colour without any one shade taking over. Look closely and there is an enormous amount going on in this print, but from a distance it comes together as a really wearable floral.
Woven from 100% viscose, this is a lightweight dress fabric at approximately 98gsm, with the softness and fluid drape you want for styles with movement. We think it would make a fabulous tiered or gathered dress, blouse, full skirt, wide leg trousers or something with plenty of volume to make the most of the print. Italian deadstock like this is always worth a closer look, particularly when the design is this good.
