The Sewing Bee Effect
The Sewing Bee returns on 14th July 2026. Discover why the show inspires thousands of sewists every year and the fabrics we expect to see more of.
A proper British wool coating fabric in one of those shades that keeps you guessing. At first glance it looks black, but catch it in the light and a deep midnight navy emerges. Woven in Britain and sourced as deadstock from a well-known high street menswear brand recognised for sharp tailoring and timeless style, this is a fabric with genuine pedigree. The twill weave gives it a refined appearance, whilst the rich colour adds depth that plain black simply can't match.
At approximately 400gsm, this is a substantial coating cloth with excellent structure and body. It holds its shape beautifully, making it ideal for tailored overcoats, pea coats, military-inspired jackets and statement outerwear. Smart, durable and reassuringly weighty, it's the sort of fabric that feels special the moment you pick it up.
