Pure Luxury - Boiled Wool - Royal Marine

Regular price £32.50 per metre

Deep marine blue 100% boiled wool, 140cm wide and 380–420gsm, ideal for coats and warm jackets.

Description

A beautifully deep marine blue boiled wool with a soft, felted surface and a rich, understated colour. Made from 100% wool, this fabric weighs approximately 380–420gsm, giving it a substantial, cosy feel whilst retaining enough flexibility for comfortable outerwear. Its classic blue tone sits somewhere between navy and royal blue, offering a lovely alternative to darker winter shades.

At 140cm wide, this fabric is well suited to coats, relaxed jackets, coatigans, gilets and warm winter skirts. The compact, boiled finish helps minimise fraying whilst providing gentle structure, making it a good choice for simple unlined designs or more traditional lined garments. A versatile colour that pairs beautifully with cream, camel, grey and contrasting brighter shades.

How do I care for this fabric?

Boiled Wool is a purely natural fabric. It has a natural lanolin protection which makes woollen products so easy to care for. Boiled wool needs to be dry/steam/fresh air cleaned.

  • If a boiled wool coat has just got slightly dirty, it is fine to shake or brush it out very carefully using a fine haired brush that will not damage the wool.
  • To get rid of unwanted smells in boiled wool garments, place them in the bathroom when you take a shower. The air humidity has a "self-cleaning" effect on wool.

Steaming to keep the fabric fresh Please note!! test on a small piece first to see how your fabric is reacting to heat. Use a low heat with steam.

  • Steaming your wool fabric using an iron should be carried out in a methodical no rush way to ensure all areas of the fabric are covered.
  • Set the iron to a wool setting and hold the iron approximately 1.5cm/1 inch above the fabric. Hold the iron there for around five seconds before moving on to the next section.

Please read - important tips on washing fabric, shrinkage and colour representation.

  • Please allow 2-10% shrinkage on fabrics to be on the safe side. Wash before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods)
  • Please test a sample area first to find the most suitable way to wash your chosen fabrics, as we cannot accept liability for fabrics washed or treated incorrectly.
  • Whilst every effort is made, we cannot guarantee that the colours you see on your screen are accurate because every screen shows colours differently.

Beautiful quality and pretty colour. I edged the lapels in satin binding and am thrilled with the result. I have ordered pink and cream boiled wool too.
