Pure Luxury - Boiled Wool - Ivory

Regular price £32.50 per metre

Creamy ivory 100% boiled wool, 140cm wide and 380–420gsm, ideal for cosy coats and jackets.

Description

A soft, creamy ivory with a beautifully natural appearance, this 100% boiled wool has a dense, felted finish and a wonderfully cosy texture. Weighing approximately 380–420gsm, it offers plenty of warmth and body whilst retaining a gentle flexibility, making it comfortable to wear. The boiling process creates a compact surface that helps reduce fraying and gives the fabric its distinctive woolly character.

At 140cm wide, this is a lovely choice for winter coats, relaxed jackets, coatigans and gilets. The warm ivory shade looks particularly elegant in simple, understated designs, allowing the texture of the wool to take centre stage. Pair it with tonal neutrals for a classic look or contrast it with darker colours for something a little more striking.

How do I care for this fabric?

Boiled Wool is a purely natural fabric. It has a natural lanolin protection which makes woollen products so easy to care for. Boiled wool needs to be dry/steam/fresh air cleaned.

  • If a boiled wool coat has just got slightly dirty, it is fine to shake or brush it out very carefully using a fine haired brush that will not damage the wool.
  • To get rid of unwanted smells in boiled wool garments, place them in the bathroom when you take a shower. The air humidity has a "self-cleaning" effect on wool.

Steaming to keep the fabric fresh Please note!! test on a small piece first to see how your fabric is reacting to heat. Use a low heat with steam.

  • Steaming your wool fabric using an iron should be carried out in a methodical no rush way to ensure all areas of the fabric are covered.
  • Set the iron to a wool setting and hold the iron approximately 1.5cm/1 inch above the fabric. Hold the iron there for around five seconds before moving on to the next section.

Please read - important tips on washing fabric, shrinkage and colour representation.

  • Please allow 2-10% shrinkage on fabrics to be on the safe side. Wash before making up in the same manner as you would with subsequent washes (including drying methods)
  • Please test a sample area first to find the most suitable way to wash your chosen fabrics, as we cannot accept liability for fabrics washed or treated incorrectly.
  • Whilst every effort is made, we cannot guarantee that the colours you see on your screen are accurate because every screen shows colours differently.

Beautiful fabric to work with. Really feel like I have a luxury item to wear. Got the style I wanted but don’t especially like Burda patterns for outer wear as they don’t give you a lot of tailoring tips that other instructions do. Still I have been making clothes for a while so knew what to do.
